Pride at Skipton

People waving Pride flag

At Skipton Building Society we encourage a diverse and inclusive culture, it's a really important part of who we are. Our Society is a place for everyone – no matter your sexual orientation, your gender or your heritage.

Inclusivity is vital in attracting and maintaining a workforce who feel accepted for who they are and valued for the contribution they bring. Joining the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate Pride enables colleagues, allies and communities to come together and have fun while highlighting the importance of acceptance and belonging. In preparation for Pride 2023, we’ve been engaging colleagues across the Society for their thoughts, ideas and experiences, so that we can share them with you.

The Pride Alliance

The Pride Alliance is a safe space for Skipton colleagues where members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies can support each other and discuss the issues that matter to them. It's open to all colleagues – from our branches and in our head office – and it helps to bring people together so that no one feels alone.

Kirsty Jennison

For me Pride is about being proud of who you are and being entitled to be accepted unconditionally, and I think it’s for everyone to feel that way, not just the LGBTQ+ community.

Kirsty Jennison, Compliance Monitoring Consultant

Proud to be me

Don’t miss our ‘Proud to be me’ series on our social media channels in 2023. Through videos, social media posts and blogs, we're telling the stories of Skipton colleagues who discuss why being part of a diverse and inclusive community is important to them.

SJ Fryatt

Pride is important to me because it allows me to be the real me, without fear of judgment or persecution. I’m not ‘weird’ or ‘confused’ or ‘jumping on a bandwagon’, I’m me.

SJ Fryatt, Relief Team Manager
