To deal with your estate and help ease the pressure on your loved ones.
Appointing a professional executor can relieve family and friends of the burden of administering your estate, after you've gone.
When you make a Will, you have to appoint someone to deal with your property and belongings (your estate) when you pass away. This is your 'executor', and it can be someone you know or you can appoint an independent professional executor.
Whoever is responsible will have a wide range of duties and the legal right to administer your estate. They will also have to work out the amount of inheritance tax owed on the estate and prepare the tax return to pay it. A professional executor can be appointed to take on these duties.
You can appoint an independent professional executor through Skipton to deal with your estate. Our executor services are provided by Skipton Trustees Limited (STL), a trust corporation which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Skipton Building Society, and administered by 1825.
Their role is to make sure your estate is administered tax efficiently and minimise the financial risks that could arise if its not done properly. All to make things as easy as possible for your loved ones.
You might already be an executor for an estate and have found it requires a great deal of work, and knowledge you might not have. If you would like some help carrying out your duties, you can appoint Skipton Trustees Limited to support you as estate administrators.
Our bereavement team will guide you through our process of notifying us of the death of a customer and closing the accounts. You'll need to answer a few security questions to prove you’re the executor, but we’ll try to make things as easy as possible.
For more information and help and support, visit our Bereavement page or call our Bereavement team on 0345 266 1209 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
