I think I've been scammed

If something doesn’t feel right or you’re worried about a transaction, the best thing to do is act quickly. On this page, we’ll take you through the steps you should take. Plus, we’ll take a look at what our dedicated team will do for you if you think you’ve been caught out.

The first three steps

1

Stop payments

Contact your bank or building society so they can try and stop the payment.

2

Contact us

Call us on 0345 850 0469, send a message on web chat or email reportscam@skipton.co.uk.
3

Report it

Phone the Police Action Fraud line on
0300 123 2040. They’ll give you a reference number.

We’ll take it from there

And last but certainly not least, don’t panic. We’re on your side. Once you’ve done these three important steps, our financial crime team will speak to you about what has happened and try to get as much of a picture as they can. They will then give you tailored advice about what to do next.

In the meantime, you can also help prevent further scams by reporting it to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) by phoning the FCA Consumer Helpline on
0800 111 6768.
