SignVideo helps you contact us safely and securely if you use British Sign Language through an online video service. It is fast and simple and enables people with hearing impairments to sign to an interpreter and the interpreter speaks to our adviser. This is a free service and is available during Skipton's contact centre opening hours. SignVideo is also available in our branches. Just pop into your local branch and let one of our colleagues know you’d like to use this service.

How does it work

  1. Select the Connect now button
  2. Connect to a SignVideo interpreter and tell them you are calling Skipton Building Society’s customer service, etc.
  3. SignVideo Interpreter may ask you if you wish to prepare anything before starting the call. E.g. is there any person or department you wish to connect to?
  4. You will then be connected and start the conversation in BSL (British Sign Language)

This service is available Monday - Thursday 8am - 6pm, Friday 8am - 5.30pm, Saturday 9am - 12pm.

What you will need

Before using SignVideo, please ensure you meet these basic requirements as a minimum:

  • PC or Mac with a webcam
  • Browsers: Chrome (PC and Mac), Firefox (Pc and Mac), Mac Safari 11, iOS 11 Safari and Android 4.0 upwards

The bandwidth requirements for the SignVideo unit are:

  • Minimum 512kbps
  • Recommended 1 mbps upload for HD Video
  • Maximum 1.5 mbps
