Skipton Building Society is celebrating at the double after scooping two national awards.

Skipton was named Best National Building Society in the 2016 What Mortgage Awards following a four month consumer voting campaign. Now in its 23rd year, the What Mortgage Awards recognise and reward the very best businesses in the UK’s mortgage and associated personal finance markets.

Just 24 hours later the society was named Best Online Cash ISA Provider in the 2016 Yourmoney.com Awards, the only consumer awards specifically recognising direct (telephone, online and non-intermediated branch) financial service provision. Skipton’s entry was initially shortlisted on price and structure, before being judged by a panel of readers on quality of service.

David Cutter, Skipton Group Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to win these two awards. To be named Best National Building Society in the What Mortgage Awards, in particular, gives us great satisfaction and is testament to the hard work by colleagues right across the organisation who are committed to putting the customer first.”

2016 has already provided many highlights for Skipton Building Society, being named for the second year running as one of the UK’s Top 100 Companies to Work For. The Society climbed 11 places to 47th position in the Sunday Times list which is widely acknowledged as the most searching and extensive research into employee engagement carried out in the country.

Earlier this year, the Society also achieved a double success at the MoneySuperMarket Supers awards - being named Best Cash ISA Savings Provider and Best Savings Account Provider. The Society was also named a Trusted Savings Account Provider in the 2016 Moneywise Customer Service Awards.

In June Skipton Intermediaries scooped a Five Star Award at the FT Adviser Service Online Innovation and Service Awards and the Society was awarded a long service award from Investors in People in recognition of 20 years accreditation.
