Paying your mortgage

The sections below detail the different ways you can make your monthly mortgage payments.

Direct Debit

If you don't currently pay by Direct Debit, setting up a Direct Debit for mortgage payments means you may be eligible for a 0.25% discount on your current interest rate (terms and conditions apply - please ask us for further details). If the Direct Debit is subsequently cancelled, the discount will be removed.

Collection dates available are the 1st, 12th, 15th and 20th of the month and Direct Debits can be set up over the telephone by calling our Credit Management team on 0345 850 1766* or by completing a Direct Debit mandate (PDF). All payments set up for the 1st of the month will be collected on the third working day. Customers with a collection date after the 1st of the month may incur additional interest.

Standing order

You can set up a standing order to make your monthly mortgage payments. Please quote your mortgage account number as the reference.

Phone

You can make debit card payments by calling Skipton Direct on 0345 850 1755*. Please note that we do not accept credit card payments.

Electronic Payments

Payments can also be made using internet banking or by requesting your bank to make the payment. For electronic payments please use our bank details below:

Reference number: Your nine digit mortgage account number

Please be aware that payments can take up to two business days to show on your mortgage account, after we have received them. Faster payments will be received by us no later than the next working day. For example, a payment initiated on a Monday will normally be received by us no later than close of business on the Tuesday. A payment initiated after the cut-off point on a Friday will normally be received on the following Monday.

Pingit

You can now make payments directly to your Skipton account using Pingit.

Pingit is a mobile app designed for iOS and Android phones that enables you to make payments when you’re on the go. It links your mobile number to your bank account so that you can ‘ping’ payments to your Skipton account easily and without any fuss.

Once you’ve set yourself up on Pingit, to make a payment simply find Skipton Building Society in the ‘pay a business’ section and just enter the amount you would like to pay, as well as entering your nine digit account number in the reference field.

Once sent, your payment will be applied as if you had made a Faster Payment to your designated account.

In branch

You can also make mortgage payments at your local branch, over the counter using cash (a paying in book can be ordered from the Credit Management Team by calling 0345 850 1766*), debit card or cheque.
