Fred Trueman Statue Appeal

Logo: Fred Trueman Statue AppealSkipton Building Society is proud to support the high profile campaign to erect a statue in memory of one of Yorkshire and England's most famous cricketers – Fred Trueman. Proposals have already been welcomed for the monument, which is estimated to cost in the region of £80,000, to stand on Skipton High Street.

Along with Northern Rail, Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Craven District Council, we will be involved in a number of initiatives to help raise funds for the sculpture. In the long-term, the appeal hopes to create awareness and support activities for young people across the north of England, including cricket academies and art workshops, Fred's two main loves.

Matthew Cox, Events & Sponsorship Manager at Skipton Building Society, said, “We are delighted to be able to support this appeal. Fred moved to the Skipton area in 1970 and, despite being born in South Yorkshire, always considered Skipton as his home. He was an inspiration to many throughout his career and I am sure lots of people will want to take the opportunity to donate towards a lasting and fitting memorial to this true Yorkshire legend.”
